Baseboard heaters are electric heaters that are wide, short heaters that are installed close to the ground near the baseboard. Which is where baseboard electric heaters get their names from. Baseboard heaters produce heat either through the hydronic or convection process. Hydronic heaters have an electric heating element that warms an internal liquid reservoir surrounded by metal fins. Most baseboard electric heaters use the convection process. These heaters also have metal fins, which heat the cold air near the ground into warm air. That warm air then rises and spreads through the room.

Hydronic heaters are considered more energy efficient. Convection heaters are cheaper and come in a larger range of sizes and power ranges. Also, convection baseboard heater plug-in units are also more available.
